My TREASURE

   My artifact is this note personal computer named Surface. This computer’s color is gray, and the keyboard is black. It is made of plastic and metal. And the size is about a notebook. The keyboard can be removed from the screen. If we remove the keyboard from the screen, we are able to use the personal computer as a tablet. 

    When I entered the university named UNP, I must buy a personal computer or Surface because I need it in my classes. It was so hard to choose a personal computer or Surface but I ended up deciding to buy a Surface. I bought it on the Internet. First, it was sent to my school, and I went to school to receive it in April. Then I took part in a seminar that teaches how to use it.It can connect to the Internet, and by doing so, we can watch YouTube, Internet sites, and so on. Alao, we install an application, we can enjoy playing computer games. I use it everyday, almost watching YouTube now. I live alone now, so I always watch YouTube while eating dinner because I feel lonely  eating dinner alone. My mother said ‘I want you to study more using this Surface. Don’t just watch videos and movies.’ I want to study more using this Surface from now on. 

    These days, there are issues about personal computers with the Internet. I will show two problems.

    First, people depend on the Internet too much. The issue applies not only to a personal computer, but also to all electronic devices that it is able to connect to the Internet, such as smartphones.

    I like watching YouTube and movies on the Internet, but I use the computer too much. I feel that time flies. I start watching movies while eating dinner but it is time to go to bed when I notice. Sometimes I put off doing my homework in the middle of the night. There are people who spend a lot of time using computer games too.  Like this, there are people who depend on the Internet. 

    I think personal computers that connect to the Internet are convenient to collect a lot of information, but if we depend too much on computers, we might not be able to do the tasks that we need to do.

    Second, personal computers disturb children’s learning opportunities. In Japan, each student who goes to elementary school, junior high school, and high school is provided with one computer now. In addition, teachers teach them using computers. By doing so, children may learn with only a computer. For example, it is better to actually experience nature in science class, but teachers might end by showing it on their computer.

     My teacher showed real things and I learned a lot of things in classes when I was an elementary school student.

    I think that way is easier for students to remember than computer learning. In addition, this way of teaching makes students enjoyable.

    These things, computers have good points, but bad  points too. Computers are convenient, but we need skills that we consider ourselves.  I think it is important that we do not depend on computers too much.
